YUL Duty-Free Boutique
Duty-Free Boutique, Trudeau Airport, Montreal
AerRianta North America Inc.
1 500 000 $
DMA was mandated by Aer Rianta International North America, through an interior design firm Smart Design Group of Vancouver for the design of the duty-free boutique in the trans-border area of the Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau Airport in Dorval, subsequent to its major extension project. Now serving all passengers travelling to the United States, this 7200 sq.ft. boutique opened its doors in June 2009.
From the concept design, DMA developed the construction drawings and specifications, including the built-in cabinetry, managed the invited tender call and undertook the construction supervision. Inspired by the theme of "a walk in the boreal forest", the design highlighted luxury products – perfume and fragrances, accessories, liquors, cigars and more – using an original and memorable concept, with an accent on unique and glittering finishes, set within high quality custom made display units complete with hidden accent lighting.
The project included the improvement of the fire and life safety systems in order to meet the current building code and regulations. Within the mandate of the project, the inspection and resulting maintenance of the building's existing systems was also completed.
