Commission de la capitale nationale
3 300 000 $
The National Capital Commission hired DMA for the stabilization and conservation of the remains of the old Wilson Carbide Mill on Victoria Island in Ottawa. The goal of the project was to restore the stone masonry walls and the original steel structure to ensure the survival of this heritage classified structure, until a conservation project for the re-use of the site is undertaken in the future. The project incorporated up-to-date techniques for the stabilization and re-anchoring of the historic stone masonry in combination with traditional techniques for the restoration work. One of the successes of this project was the discrete integration, within the heritage structure, of components for improving the seismic resistance.
