2017 - Architectural Competition : Winner of the competition

The library as a laboratory is an ecosystem composed of several typologies of interrelated spaces.

The digital media and maker space library project, won by the in-situ + DMA consortium, aims to give back to the Saint-Sulpice library, its original function of sharing and exploring knowledge as well as breaking down social barriers, but in a renewed form.
This form revolves around spaces of innovation and creation focused on new technologies, aimed at a diversified clientele and spaces specifically dedicated to adolescents. The library as a laboratory is an ecosystem composed of several typologies of space linked together; hyper specialized spaces that respond to specific programs such as a medialab and a fablab as well as large flexible spaces that can accommodate different activities and can be reconfigured as needed, as well as spaces for social encounters, the Third Place.
The current building of the Bibliothèque Saint-Sulpice is a Beaux-Arts building but also the archetype, form and organization specific to a library of another century.
