The redevelopment of the Bronfman Building’s fifth floor at McGill was carried out with a focus on the quality of the work environment. This floor houses administrative offices for professors and doctoral students and includes two multi-purpose rooms used for research.
The fit-up process was complex as all the closed offices required windows and these exceeded the available quantity. The solution of sharing natural light through glass partitions, developed in conjunction with the client, allowed the program objectives to be met to the client's satisfaction.
The redevelopment also includes related service spaces; washrooms and kitchenette. Due to the configuration of the mechanical systems, the work was extended to the adjacent floors. The work was carried out while the rest of the building remained occupied, so noise, dust control and waste management were paramount.
